Gondia, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : A horrific road accident occurred in Gondia district, Maharashtra, on September 8. A high-speed truck collided head-on with a pickup vehicle on the Gondia-Balaghat road in the Nagara area. The impact was so severe that the pickup was completely mangled. Tragically, three individuals in the pickup lost their lives at the scene, while eleven others sustained serious injuries. The injured were promptly taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Reports indicate that all the victims were from the neighboring Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh. They were traveling to Hyderabad for work when the accident happened late Monday night.
Local residents and police quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. They managed to extricate the injured from the wreckage and rushed them to the government hospital in Gondia, where medical staff are currently treating them. Some of the injured individuals remain in critical condition.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed, but police have notified their families.
This incident follows another tragic accident in Satara, Maharashtra, in August, where four young men lost their lives in a similar collision on the Pune-Bengaluru highway.
