Greater Noida, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : In a bid to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, the Greater Noida traffic police launched a three-day special checking campaign targeting buses. Under the direction of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh and the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, the initiative aimed to address various safety concerns.
From September 27 to 29, the traffic police conducted thorough inspections of a total of 1,003 buses. During this period, they issued fines to 67 buses found in violation of traffic rules and safety standards. The campaign was not limited to checking documents and general traffic regulations; it also focused on critical safety measures for passengers.
The police carried out breathalyzer tests on bus drivers to check for alcohol consumption. They also inspected the functionality of emergency exits, the presence and working condition of CCTV cameras, and the availability of fire safety equipment. Special attention was given to ensure that there were no deficiencies that could hinder passenger safety during emergencies.
For buses that exhibited safety shortcomings or violated traffic rules, appropriate enforcement actions were taken. The traffic police also aimed to raise awareness among drivers and conductors about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations. They provided essential guidelines on ensuring safe travel for passengers and effectively utilizing safety equipment in emergencies.
Authorities emphasized the necessity of maintaining safety standards in public transport vehicles, given the large number of passengers they carry. Emergency exits, firefighting equipment, and other safety resources are vital in any crisis situation.
The traffic police stated that they plan to continue such special campaigns in the future to reduce road accidents, ensure passenger safety, and promote effective compliance with traffic regulations.
