New Delhi, August 24: BJP MLC Praveen Darekar has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Students’ Voice” program, claiming it aims to create divisions in the country. He stated that Gandhi’s interactions with students are not for the nation’s benefit. In contrast, he highlighted that the discussions led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune and Nagpur were inspired by patriotism, showcasing respect for the Constitution and pride in democracy.
Darekar commented on the BJP’s proposal regarding “Vande Mataram,” asserting that Congress’s true feelings for the country are evident. He emphasized that the BJP expresses national goodwill by promoting “Vande Mataram.”
He further elaborated that comparing both discussions reveals that Nagpur’s conversation was rooted in patriotism. He questioned how anti-national forces could be formed under a hidden agenda, which he believes was the essence of Rahul Gandhi’s dialogue. In contrast, Fadnavis’s discussions reflected respect for the Constitution and pride in democracy.
Regarding the BJP’s stance on “Vande Mataram,” Darekar stated, “Congress’s feelings for the country are clear. On the other hand, the BJP demonstrates its goodwill by saying and adhering to ‘Vande Mataram,’ striving to reveal the true state of the nation.”
In response to BJP leader Smriti Irani’s statements, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt recalled that in 1999, Sonia Gandhi urged then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill, promising support. He noted that in 2004, Sonia Gandhi reiterated that if they had the numbers in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, they would bring the bill forward. Dutt mentioned that the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in 2010 due to their majority in the Rajya Sabha, but the BJP did not support it in the Lok Sabha.
