Tragic Bus Accident in Andhra Pradesh: Telangana CM Expresses Condolences and Offers Support

Hyderabad, March 26: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Markapuram, Andhra Pradesh, which resulted in multiple fatalities. He assured all possible assistance to the affected families.

In a post on X, Rao stated, “I am deeply shocked by the bus accident in Markapuram. The news of several deaths is heartbreaking. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. We are coordinating with Andhra Pradesh government officials to ensure better medical assistance for the injured. I have instructed Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to gather details about the deceased and injured from the bus that was traveling from Nirmal in Telangana to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, and to coordinate relief efforts with Andhra officials on a war footing.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences, announcing a compensation of ₹200,000 for the bereaved families and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conveyed his profound grief over the accident. He has directed ministers and officials to expedite relief operations.

The incident occurred around 6:30 AM on Thursday when a private travel bus collided with a tipper truck near Rayavaram in Markapuram district. The collision resulted in a fire that engulfed both vehicles, claiming the lives of 14 individuals and injuring 15 others.

The number of fatalities may rise as some injured victims are reported to be in critical condition. Among the deceased and injured are women and children. The bus was en route from Hyderabad to Pamuru in Prakasam district. The victims hailed from Kanigiri and Pamuru, while the tipper truck was transporting concrete from Chimakurthy to Markapuram.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, arrived promptly at the scene to initiate rescue and relief operations. Three fire engines were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
