New Delhi, April 2: Political tensions are rising ahead of the Assam Assembly elections. Following the release of Congress’s manifesto by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, the BJP has responded sharply. BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh claims that Congress is heading toward its most significant defeat in Assam.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency on Thursday, Vallabh stated that Rahul Gandhi does not need a manifesto, as Congress is on the brink of its largest loss in the state. He accused the party’s entire political framework of being based on nepotism and dynastic politics, which he believes has become its greatest weakness.
Targeting Congress’s leadership in Assam, Vallabh mentioned Gaurav Gogoi. He noted that the only difference between Rahul Gandhi and Gogoi is their language proficiency, as Gogoi speaks Assamese while Gandhi does not. Furthermore, he asserted that their backgrounds and ideologies are similar, both symbolizing dynastic politics. Vallabh described their individual political strength as “zero,” claiming they lack a solid vision or plan for development. He dismissed Congress’s manifesto as merely a “bundle of lies,” lacking clear intentions or concrete plans for Assam’s progress.
Vallabh further stated that the people of Assam will not accept Congress’s claims and that the party will face a crushing defeat in the upcoming elections.
Notably, political rhetoric has intensified ahead of the Assam Assembly elections. Various political parties are sharpening their electoral issues, targeting opponents on ideological and regional grounds while rallying support for their candidates.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a strong mandate in the upcoming elections, citing the party’s development agenda and its connection with grassroots voters.
