Smriti Irani Claims BJP Government Essential for West Bengal Amidst TMCs Corruption Allegations

Malda, April 2: In a recent statement, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Smriti Irani criticized West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She asserted that under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime, corruption and violence have become synonymous.

Irani claimed that the people of Bengal have decided that it is crucial to bring in a BJP government to rid the state of the TMC’s corrupt administration.

Speaking to the media in Malda, Irani expressed her astonishment at TMC’s disrespect for constitutional positions. She highlighted that this is the same TMC government that has insulted President Droupadi Murmu and the Prime Minister of India. Irani further accused the TMC of inciting violence against Members of Parliament, stating that a climate of lawlessness prevails in Bengal, prompting the public to vote for change.

She emphasized that the people of West Bengal have resolved to establish a corruption-free state, eliminate the atmosphere of fear, and uphold women’s dignity, making the establishment of a BJP government imperative.

BJP leader Tapas Roy commented on the situation in Bengal, stating that not only the residents of Bengal but also people across the country can easily understand the ongoing issues. He described the current scenario as unconstitutional and anti-democratic, calling for the Election Commission to take positive steps to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections in West Bengal.

Roy added that the public will not forget what the TMC has done in the past 15 years, which has led to a significant loss of support for the party.

BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh remarked that this is not a personal battle but a political one, asserting that they are far ahead of other parties. He expressed confidence in securing over 70,000 votes just from the Siliguri assembly seat, surpassing their previous lead of 66,000 votes in the last parliamentary elections.

BJP leader Debashree Chowdhury noted a wave of change this time, stating that the people have made up their minds to uproot the corrupt and oppressive government. She claimed there is a tremendous surge of support for the BJP in West Bengal.
