Tragic Boiler Explosion at Vedanta Power Plant in Chhattisgarh Claims Nine Lives

New Delhi, April 14: A devastating boiler explosion occurred at the Vedanta Power Plant located in Singhitrai, Sakti district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday afternoon. The incident has resulted in the tragic loss of nine lives, with 20 workers and employees sustaining serious injuries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over this unfortunate event and announced compensation for the victims’ families.

On the social media platform X, the Prime Minister’s Office quoted PM Modi stating, “The accident at a power plant in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh is extremely tragic. I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this incident. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

The PMO further stated that “local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected individuals. Each family of the deceased will receive a compensation of 200,000 rupees from PMNRF, while the injured will be given 50,000 rupees.”

Earlier, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, expressed his sorrow on X, saying, “The news of the horrific accident caused by the boiler explosion at the Vedanta Power Plant in Sakti district is extremely distressing and painful. The reports of some workers losing their lives and others being injured are deeply upsetting. My heartfelt sympathies are with the grieving families.”

He added, “I pray to God to grant the departed souls a place at His feet and to give the families the strength to endure this unbearable sorrow. The district administration is present at the site, and relief and rescue operations are ongoing. Necessary directives have been issued for the better treatment of the injured. I pray that all those injured in this incident recover swiftly. A thorough and impartial investigation into the incident will be ensured, and strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible.”
