Shahdol, June 7: A tragic incident occurred in the Amalia police area of Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh, when a speeding 16-wheeler truck collided with a motorcycle on National Highway-43 on Sunday. This devastating accident resulted in the death of an elderly woman and left three others seriously injured.
According to police officials, the elderly woman died at the scene. Her daughter, son-in-law, and one-year-old granddaughter suffered severe injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Rekha Yadav, a resident of Kodwar Kala village. Her daughter, Aanchal Yadav, son-in-law Neeraj Yadav, and their infant daughter were all injured in the crash.
Officials further reported that the family was returning home on a single motorcycle after visiting the sacred Marakhi Mata Temple in Keshwahi when the accident occurred near the Mohari Dai Temple in Batura village.
Initial police investigations indicate that the truck was speeding when it struck the motorcycle from behind. The impact was so forceful that the two-wheeler was dragged a considerable distance. Rekha Yadav fell onto the road and was crushed by the truck, resulting in her immediate death. Her body lay on the highway for some time, drawing a crowd of shocked onlookers. Aanchal, Neeraj, and the infant sustained serious injuries.
Nearby residents rushed to assist and took the injured family members to a nearby hospital. Doctors treating them reported their conditions as critical, with concerns about internal injuries and fractures.
Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have seized the truck and sent Rekha Yadav’s body for a post-mortem examination. A search operation is underway to locate and apprehend the fleeing driver.
According to police officials, a thorough investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the suspect driver will be arrested soon.
