
Mumbai, March 27: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Chhindwara after visiting the injured at the district hospital on Friday. He described the incident as “extremely unfortunate.”
During his visit, he announced an increase in financial assistance for the families of each deceased victim to ₹8 lakh. This amount is double the initial compensation of ₹4 lakh announced following the accident on Thursday night.
Upon arriving in Chhindwara, the Chief Minister met with families from affected villages, including Karera, Gwada, and Jhiriya, assuring them of the government’s full support. He later toured the district hospital, where over 30 injured individuals are receiving treatment, and gathered information about their medical care.
Yadav stated, “After canceling my previously scheduled programs, I met with the families of the victims of this tragic road accident to express my condolences. This incident is extremely sorrowful. During this time of grief, the government stands firmly with all affected families.”
He further explained that the financial aid would be provided from the Chief Minister’s discretionary fund, with ₹4 lakh allocated to each family of the deceased. An additional ₹4 lakh will be provided under the Chief Minister’s Sambal scheme, bringing the total assistance to ₹8 lakh per family.
In addition, injured individuals will receive a grace amount of ₹1 lakh. The Chief Minister also mentioned that he has ordered an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, he praised the police personnel for their prompt action in the rescue operation and for transporting the injured to the hospital. “I commend their efforts. Many lives were saved due to their readiness. These personnel will also be honored. I have discussed the condition of the injured individuals admitted to hospitals in Nagpur with doctors,” he added.
