TMC MP Kirti Azad Criticizes CID Raids on Abhishek Banerjees Home as BJPs Old Tactics

New Delhi, June 13: TMC MP Kirti Azad addressed several issues, including the strength of the ‘India’ alliance and the recent CID raids at Abhishek Banerjee’s residence, during a press conference.

While speaking to reporters, Azad highlighted the narrow margin in votes, stating, “The difference is just 30 lakh. We received 2.6 crore votes, while the BJP garnered 2.9 crore.” He mentioned that 300,000 central forces were deployed for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, compared to 240,000 during the Bengal assembly elections.

Azad claimed that there is turmoil within the NDA and predicted significant fractures ahead. “The public mood has shifted. We will win in Bengal again, and the ‘India’ block will surely succeed nationwide,” he asserted.

Regarding the CID raids at Abhishek Banerjee’s home, Azad described it as an old tactic of the BJP. “They are attempting to undermine Abhishek Banerjee. They must have needed Madan Mitra. They are not interested in running the government,” he stated.

He criticized the government for not addressing rising inflation, pointing out that prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG are skyrocketing. “There is no discussion on the NEET paper leak case either. BJP leaders’ children study abroad,” he added.

On Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s comments about corruption, Azad insisted that investigations should be conducted. “If someone is found guilty, they should be punished. But what happened to the case filed against Suvendu Adhikari by the CBI?” he questioned.

When asked about reopening the RG Kar case, Azad emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. “Those who are guilty should be punished. We never said that an investigation should not happen,” he concluded.
