Three Robbers Arrested in Ghaziabad After Targeting Morning Walkers

Ghaziabad, June 4: The Ghaziabad police have apprehended three robbers who targeted individuals during morning walks. The arrests occurred during a joint operation by the SWAT team and the Sihani Gate police, which resulted in two of the suspects being injured by gunfire. The third suspect was captured at the scene.

According to police reports, around 12:15 AM on Thursday, they received a tip-off that individuals involved in previous snatching incidents were expected to meet someone near the Hamdard Ground in Lohia Nagar. Taking this information seriously, the SWAT team and Sihani Gate police cordoned off the area to apprehend the suspects.

When the police attempted to stop the three suspects, they tried to flee instead. Allegedly, the robbers opened fire on the police team. In response, the police acted in self-defense, injuring two of the suspects in their legs. The third suspect was arrested on the spot.

During the search, police recovered two illegal firearms, four live cartridges, and two spent cartridges from the suspects. The injured robbers were taken to a hospital for treatment, where they are currently receiving care.

Authorities are investigating the criminal history of the arrested suspects. They are also looking into whether these individuals were involved in other snatching and criminal incidents in the district and surrounding areas. Legal proceedings are ongoing in this case.

Assistant Police Commissioner Ziauddin Ahmed from Nandgram stated today that the SWAT team and Sihani Gate police conducted a joint operation based on intelligence received from a tip-off.

He further explained that when the team arrived at the scene, they spotted the three suspects. Upon signaling them to stop, the suspects attempted to flee and fired at the police. In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring two suspects in the legs. One suspect was apprehended immediately. The police seized two illegal firearms, four live cartridges, and two spent cartridges from the suspects. The injured suspects were sent to the district hospital after receiving initial treatment. Legal action is underway.
