Three Arrested in Mumbai for Gas Cylinder Theft; 45 Cylinders and 3 Bikes Recovered

Mumbai, April 6: In a significant crackdown, police in Mumbai’s Powai area have arrested three individuals linked to a major gas cylinder theft ring. The main suspect, 45-year-old Raj Chandrakant Kamble, along with two accomplices, was taken into custody.

Authorities recovered a total of 45 stolen gas cylinders and three motorcycles, which had been pilfered from various locations in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane.

The Mumbai police reported that recent conflicts in Gulf countries have raised concerns and uncertainty among citizens regarding the availability of gas cylinders. This backdrop has exacerbated the challenges faced by the public, making theft incidents like these even more troubling.

The case emerged after a complaint about motorcycle theft was filed at the Powai police station. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were using the stolen motorcycle to commit gas cylinder thefts.

Following this revelation, police registered a formal case and initiated a thorough investigation. The police team meticulously analyzed local CCTV footage and identified the suspects based on technical evidence.

Subsequently, a raid was conducted in Thane’s Vartak Nagar area, leading to the arrest of one suspect. Based on information provided by the arrested individuals, additional suspects were also apprehended.

During the investigation, police recovered three motorcycles and 45 gas cylinders, all reported stolen from various areas. Interrogations revealed that the main suspect, Raj Chandrakant Kamble, has a history of involvement in such crimes. According to police records, he has over ten criminal cases registered against him in Mumbai and other police stations.

The Powai police are currently investigating the entire gang and are working to identify other members involved in these thefts.
