Gwalior, March 27: In a shocking incident, the Behati police in Gwalior have arrested three individuals for allegedly firing shots from a moving car, resulting in serious injuries to a 60-year-old woman.
Authorities claim to have resolved the case within 48 hours of the incident. According to Gwalior Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh, the suspects pursued a Scorpio vehicle after a dispute over yielding the road and opened fire. The police have confiscated a .315 bore gun, live and empty cartridges, and the Creta vehicle used in the crime.
The incident occurred when Bhim Gautam Sharma from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and his mother, Vimla Devi Sharma, were returning home after attending a Bhagwat Katha in Gijorra Dudhkhuh village in Gwalior. On their way back, they visited the Ratan Garh Mata Temple and Dandroua Dham Temple.
Near Rangwan village in the Behati police station area, they encountered a white car parked on a narrow road with three to four young men inside. Bhim honked to request passage. When there was no response, he used the siren, which provoked the young men.
After a brief delay, the suspects allowed the Scorpio to pass. However, as the victims’ car moved ahead, the assailants began to chase them and opened fire shortly after. One bullet struck Vimla Devi Sharma in the neck while she was seated next to the driver, leaving her severely injured.
Following the shooting, the assailants fled towards Bhind. The injured woman was rushed to a private hospital, where her condition remains critical.
In response to the incident, the Behati police have registered a case of attempted murder and initiated a swift investigation. The identities of the three arrested suspects have been established, but their names have not yet been released.
Further inquiries are ongoing to determine if any other individuals were involved in this crime.
