New Delhi, March 28: In a significant achievement in the fight against drug abuse, the Central District team of Delhi Police has successfully dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking network. The Hauz Qazi police arrested three individuals and seized 8.505 kilograms of cannabis and 10 grams of heroin from their possession.
On March 24, 2026, during routine patrols, ASI Bhuvaneshwar and his team received credible information about illegal drug activities near Excelsior Cinema in Sadar Bazaar. The police team promptly arrived at the scene and apprehended a man named Mohammad Ali, who was found consuming smack.
Following this, a case was registered at Hauz Qazi police station under the NDPS Act, and an investigation commenced. During questioning, the accused revealed that he purchased drugs from a person named Sonu, residing near Paharganj Bridge. Acting on this information, the police formed a special team and conducted operations under the supervision of ACP Kamla Market. On the morning of March 27, three individuals were arrested in the Todapur area. These suspects were involved in the supply of cannabis, smack, and heroin.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Binod Kumar, Sonu Kumar Mandal, and Sanjeet Kumar alias Sonu, all hailing from Bihar. During interrogation, they disclosed that they sourced drugs from Raghubir Nagar, Sadar Bazaar, and Bihar. They purchased cannabis in Bihar for 5,000 to 6,000 rupees per kilogram and sold it in Delhi for 13,000 rupees per kilogram, indicating a larger organized network.
According to police, some of the arrested suspects have previously been involved in drug-related cases. Officials stated that this operation is part of an ongoing campaign against drug abuse. The investigation continues to dismantle the entire network and apprehend other suspects.
