Bhopal, August 13: In a significant crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing and trafficking, Madhya Pradesh police have arrested ten individuals with 31 illegal weapons. This operation targeted criminals involved in the illegal arms trade across Burhanpur, Khargone, Sagar, and Indore.
According to official reports, the Burhanpur police received a tip-off about a person carrying illegal weapons near Sai Baba School, hidden under a tree in the forest close to Khaknar village. Acting swiftly, the police team surrounded the area and apprehended the suspect.
During the search, authorities seized 13 handmade country-made pistols, one empty magazine, and 45 live cartridges, valued at approximately ₹372,000. Additionally, a motorcycle used for transporting the weapons, worth ₹120,000, was also confiscated, bringing the total seized assets to ₹472,000.
In a related operation, the Khargone police’s Bistan team arrested two suspects with a cache of illegal firearms. During a vehicle search, they recovered ten country-made pistols. Neither suspect could provide a valid license or documentation for possessing the weapons.
The police also seized a Scorpio vehicle, valued at around ₹1.5 million, used for transporting the arms. Meanwhile, the Indore police’s Rau team arrested four individuals in connection with illegal weapons. They recovered four pistols, one revolver, and four live cartridges from the suspects.
Similarly, the Sagar police uncovered a network involved in illegal arms manufacturing and supply, arresting three individuals. They seized one country-made katta, one country-made revolver, one country-made pistol, and three live cartridges from the suspects.
