Patna, August 17: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in Bihar, has criticized the state government for deteriorating law and order. He claims that paper leaks and irregularities are affecting competitive examinations in the state.
Yadav demanded accountability from the state government regarding the alleged police shooting of students protesting against paper leaks in Siwan last month. He stated that the government responded with violence instead of listening to the students’ concerns.
As the National Executive President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Yadav announced that his party will march to the Raj Bhavan on August 19 to pressure the state government and present the grievances of students and youth to the Governor.
He emphasized that repeated incidents of paper leaks are tarnishing Bihar’s image. Yadav pointed out that complaints have emerged regarding paper leaks in various examinations, from matriculation to recruitment tests.
Referring to the Siwan incident, he questioned who ordered the police to fire on protesting students. He raised concerns about the lack of accountability from the state’s Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, regarding the incident.
Yadav noted that only one constable has been dismissed in connection with the case, while no action has been taken against other responsible officials. He stated that the upcoming march will include students, teachers, coaching institute attendees, and all those frustrated with the opaque examination and employment system.
He also invited leaders from other states to join the march. Criticizing the state government’s promise of one million jobs, Yadav claimed that the BJP-led administration has failed to deliver even one hundred thousand jobs.
Additionally, he attacked the government’s alcohol prohibition policy, asserting that it has completely failed, with reports of home delivery of alcohol surfacing. He stated that while the Bihar government claims to enforce the ban, the reality on the ground tells a different story.
