Patna, August 11: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the national executive president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, has raised concerns regarding the transfer of Urdu, Arabic, and Persian teachers in government schools. He has also demanded the release of pending salaries for teachers and staff in aided madrasas and Sanskrit schools.
Yadav shared his letter to the Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, on the social media platform X. In the letter, he highlighted the ongoing complaints about the current transfer process for teachers in Bihar. He pointed out that there is widespread dissatisfaction among teachers, particularly regarding alleged discriminatory and irregular treatment of those teaching Urdu, Arabic, and Persian.
He expressed serious concern that in several schools, even the sole teacher for these subjects has been declared surplus and included in the transfer list. Transferring a teacher who is the only one available for a subject effectively ends the teaching of that subject in the school.
Yadav also questioned the discontinuation of approved positions for these subjects in schools with adequate student numbers. He mentioned complaints about the inclusion of teachers with less than five years of service, contractual teachers, and those recently transferred in the surplus list.
He stated that this issue is not merely an administrative error but raises serious questions about the transparency and fairness of the entire transfer process. The RJD leader emphasized that both Urdu and Sanskrit are languages that have developed as part of India’s shared cultural heritage. The government must treat both languages with equality and respect.
Yadav demanded concrete actions to ensure the availability of Urdu and Sanskrit teachers in every government school. He also addressed the issue of pending salaries for teachers and staff in aided madrasas and Sanskrit schools, which have been delayed for five to six months. He noted that the lack of salary directly affects the education, healthcare, daily expenses, and other needs of the teachers’ families.
The RJD leader called for an independent and fair review of the surplus/transfer list for Urdu, Arabic, and Persian teachers, cancellation of irregular transfers, halting the declaration of sole subject teachers as surplus, and immediate release of pending salaries.
He also urged the government to hold relevant officials accountable and take action against those found guilty. Yadav concluded by stating that injustice towards teachers and neglect of students’ educational rights is unacceptable under any circumstances.
