Bihar Chief Minister Criticizes Opposition Over Police Action Against Students in Jharkhand

Patna, August 11: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has targeted the opposition regarding police actions against students protesting alleged irregularities in competitive exams in Jharkhand. On Monday, he expressed his concerns on the social media platform X, calling the police action unfortunate and questioning the silence of opposition parties.

Chaudhary stated that the brutal actions taken against peaceful protesters, including students and youth, were instigated by Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders. He deemed this response to be extremely regrettable.

He further criticized the opposition, suggesting that their silence on this issue undermines their claims of being ‘student-friendly.’ Chaudhary posed a provocative question: “Will support for students now be determined by political convenience and self-interest?” Along with his post, he shared a video showing police using batons against the crowd.

The protests in Jharkhand escalated to the state assembly as students and youth rallied against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations. Tensions flared between the protesters and police during the demonstrations.

Reports indicate that a group of protesting students threw stones at the police, prompting law enforcement to respond with a baton charge to control the crowd. Several students and police personnel were reported injured during the incident.

One police officer was injured and required ambulance assistance to reach the hospital. Additionally, a student sustained a serious head injury, resulting in visible bleeding, which led to chaos among bystanders and security personnel.

Students claim that the alleged irregularities in recruitment exams are jeopardizing the futures of many candidates. The protesters are demanding a fair investigation into these matters and action against those responsible. In response, the police administration has tightened security measures to manage the situation. Following the incident, political rhetoric has intensified.
