Patna, April 4: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, took a strong stance against the NDA government on Saturday, focusing on the issue of development. He clearly stated that the government blames the opposition to conceal its failures. Citing various statistics, he challenged the Chief Minister and the two Deputy Chief Ministers to engage in a public debate with him if they possess the moral courage and capability to defend their record.
In a press statement, Yadav pointed out that after 21 years of NDA governance and 12 years of a double-engine government, Bihar ranks at the bottom in most social, humanitarian, and economic indicators, including education, employment, income, industrial development, production, investment, and healthcare.
He sarcastically remarked that corrupt rulers feel insulted when Bihar is labeled as the most backward and poorest state, as it exposes their lies and monumental failures. This situation has persisted for 21 years. He highlighted that Bihar has the lowest literacy rate, the least per capita income, the lowest income for farmers, and the lowest per capita investment in the country. Additionally, Bihar suffers from the lowest rural income and electricity consumption per capita, while also facing the highest rates of crime, poverty, and unemployment, leading to significant out-migration.
Tejashwi Yadav, the National Executive President of the RJD, noted that Bihar has the highest number of unemployed youth and the highest school dropout rate. The state also has the fewest colleges per one lakh population. He used various statistics to illustrate the dire situation in Bihar.
He emphasized that Bihar is lagging in industrialization, industrial development, production, and investment. Yadav further questioned, “Why, after 21 years of governance, is Bihar so far below the national average in all these development indicators?”
He advised, “Unless you identify the problems and address them, you will continue to hide your failures by resorting to falsehoods in every election, like using institutions such as the Election Commission, corrupt officials, and government machinery to mislead the public with promises of cash handouts and job creation.”
