Patna, July 2: Tejashwi Yadav, the national executive president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has launched a strong attack on the Bihar government regarding the controversial Bharat Tiwari alleged fake encounter case. He raised concerns over the appointment of Rajesh Kumar Sharma, the former SDPO of Jagdishpur, who was accused in the case, questioning the government’s commitment to genuine action.
During a press conference on Thursday, Yadav stated that assigning a new responsibility to the accused officer raises numerous questions. He accused the state government of merely performing a façade of action rather than pursuing a fair investigation. Yadav remarked, “No one has the courage to act without the Chief Minister‘s approval. The Home Minister is the same. The encounter occurred only after a message was sent by the officer. Now, only superficial actions are being taken.”
He further alleged that criminals and corrupt officials in Bihar are being protected, which prevents victims from receiving justice. “Here, criminals receive protection. Proper hearings and actions do not take place. This is the truth. Those in power know the reality of the entire situation,” he added.
The RJD leader reiterated that no action could have taken place without top-level consent. He urged the government to clarify what actions have been taken against the accused officials and the basis for their new responsibilities. Notably, the opposition has been consistently attacking the Bihar government over the Bharat Tiwari alleged fake encounter case.
The FIR in the case names several police personnel as accused. Meanwhile, the political controversy intensified after Rajesh Kumar Sharma was given a new assignment, with the opposition questioning the government’s intentions. Political statements regarding this matter continue to emerge.
