Tamil Nadus Vijay Promises Agricultural Loan Waivers at Thanjavur Meeting

Thanjavur, March 4: In a recent executive meeting and campaign event held in Chengipatti, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, Vijay, the leader of the Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK), made an emotional appeal to party workers while presenting new electoral promises.

Addressing TVK officials and campaign volunteers, Vijay urged supporters to give him the opportunity to establish a corruption-free and socially just government in Tamil Nadu.

He emphasized that his relationship with the people is not merely for electoral gains but is deeply rooted. While politics may be a choice for some during elections, for him and his supporters, it is profoundly emotional.

During the meeting, Vijay announced the second phase of electoral promises following the first phase declarations made in Vellore. A key highlight of the announcement was a significant relief plan for farmers.

Vijay stated that if the TVK comes to power, crop loans taken by farmers with up to five acres of land from cooperative agricultural banks will be fully waived. For farmers with more than five acres, the party will consider waiving up to 50% of their crop loans.

He stressed that the government will ensure that farmers in the delta region never face a shortage of fertilizers. He affirmed that the party will stand firmly with the farming community and oppose any plans that harm farmers, even under pressure from the central government.

Additionally, he announced that the government would cover the entire education expenses for children of landless families and farmers with up to two acres of land, provided no family member is employed by the state or central government.

Highlighting issues in agricultural procurement, Vijay assured that his government would ensure proper storage of rice at procurement centers to prevent spoilage.

Adequate storage infrastructure will be developed, and strict action will be taken against those illegally collecting commissions for loading or unloading rice bags.

In the public distribution system, Vijay promised to open one ration shop for every 500 ration cards and appoint assistants in villages to aid in the operation of these shops. Other items, apart from rice, will be distributed in packaged form.
