Raipur, June 3: T.S. Singh Deo, a prominent Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, has sharply criticized the central government regarding the NEET UG paper leak incident. He expressed concern over the repeated failures of examination agencies under the central government, emphasizing that if those responsible for governance and educational integrity cannot effectively utilize their power, it poses a significant issue.
In an interview with a news agency, Singh Deo stated, “Millions of students participate in these national exams, yet we still encounter cases where question papers are leaked or discrepancies are found in test booklets. As a result, there is a growing demand for re-examinations and increased transparency.”
He further remarked that if the government continues to adopt such irresponsible behavior towards this new generation, which we consider the future of our country, it raises questions about the impact on their mindset and perspectives. “Students’ issues are being overlooked, and the entire situation remains unresolved, jeopardizing their futures,” he added.
Singh Deo also addressed comments made by Imran Masood regarding seat-sharing in elections, stating that Masood is not in a position to share his seat. “He has expressed his personal opinion, and we should regard it as such. The Congress party’s stance will be determined by the high command. I believe discussions will take place in a conducive environment, leading to a fair distribution of seats.”
On the topic of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Singh Deo expressed a positive outlook. He stated, “The UCC should be accepted. All citizens of the country are equal and free. Everyone has the right to vote, so all opinions should be considered.” He emphasized that while the UCC would strengthen national unity and equality, it is crucial to respect the sentiments of all communities during its implementation. The central government should engage in extensive consultations when taking concrete steps in this direction.
