Mumbai, August 30: A police encounter occurred on the Son River in the Parev area of the Bihta police station in Patna district, where criminals were reportedly extorting money using a boat. Gunfire erupted from both sides, resulting in injuries to one criminal and a sub-inspector. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities received information about the extortion activities on the Son River and dispatched a police team to apprehend the suspects. During the operation, the criminals opened fire on the police, prompting a return of gunfire. One criminal was injured in the exchange, along with a sub-inspector.
From the scene, police recovered two pistols, a rifle, a carbine, a homemade gun, and a boat. Two criminals were arrested during the operation. The injured criminal and the sub-inspector are currently receiving medical care.
The police are investigating the entire incident to determine how long the extortion network on the Son River has been operating and how many individuals are involved. Further actions are being taken based on the interrogation of the arrested criminals.
Previously, as part of an ongoing crackdown on crime, police in Patna arrested four suspects from two different locations. Two weeks ago, three individuals were apprehended in the Patna East area while planning to target doctors and business owners. Additionally, a man was arrested by the Agamkuan police on charges of theft.
