Irans President Advocates Peace Agreement with the U.S. for Regional Stability

Tehran, August 30: Iranian President Masoud Pajeskhian has stated that the peace memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Iran and the United States serves the interests of Iran, West Asia, and the entire world.

During a ceremony held in the capital, Tehran, he emphasized that the implementation of this agreement would prevent the U.S. and Israel from creating chaos, aggression, and insecurity in the region. He noted that it would provide an opportunity for countries in the region to advance towards stability and development. This information was released in a statement on the president’s office website.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, Pajeskhian highlighted the necessity of promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim nations to thwart the “plots of enemies.”

He remarked, “Iran has never initiated a war. We do not welcome war, but we will stand firmly against any aggressor. No power can force a country to bow down that stands with full strength and will.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi warned in a social media post that there are “large-scale” efforts to influence global energy markets for private gain and to prolong the U.S. war against Iran.

In a separate statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that the country’s security agencies conducted a significant operation against a “terrorist” group linked to the U.S. and Israel in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province. During this operation, one member of the group was killed, and six others were arrested.

It is noteworthy that on February 28, Israel and the U.S. jointly attacked Tehran and other Iranian cities. In response, Iran targeted Israeli and U.S. positions and resources in the region with missile and drone strikes. Additionally, it intensified its monitoring and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Following this, on June 18, the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending hostilities in the region. Under this agreement, both countries were to engage in negotiations to reach a final accord within 60 days. This period ended on August 17.

However, the future of these talks remains uncertain due to increased tensions between the two nations last month, leaving the direction of future negotiations unclear.
