New Delhi, August 30: India continues to extend its support to Nepal during this challenging time. The fourth Indian aircraft carrying 11 tons of relief supplies has arrived in Kathmandu. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India stands firmly with Nepal in this difficult situation.
Jaiswal shared on the social media platform ‘X’, “We are standing strong with Nepal. The fourth aircraft carrying relief supplies has reached Nepal with 11 tons of assistance, which has been handed over to the relevant authorities.”
He mentioned that this aid includes essential equipment for search and rescue operations, along with a team of tunneling technical experts. Additionally, a team of forensic specialists has been dispatched for DNA testing.
The relief supplies consist of blankets, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, plastic sheets, and hygiene kits. Jaiswal emphasized that India is providing every possible assistance to Nepal during this tough time.
So far, India has delivered a total of 68.5 tons of relief supplies to Kathmandu via air. On the day of the sudden flooding (August 26, 2026), an IAF C-130J Hercules aircraft transported 10 tons of emergency relief materials, including temporary shelters, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps, and medicines. The following morning, on August 27, 2026, an IAF C-17 Globemaster aircraft delivered 37.5 tons of relief supplies, which included 28.5 tons of tents, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps, drainage pumps, cooking sets, and generators, along with eight tons of medicines and one ton of food supplies.
On August 28, 2026, another C-130J Hercules aircraft airlifted a five-member tunneling rescue team and a six-member medical team, along with 10 tons of additional supplies, including portable generators, dignity kits, food, water purification tablets, and medicines. The technical team has commenced work to assist with tunneling rescue operations in the affected areas.
Furthermore, India is also aiding in the construction of damaged bridges in Nepal. The Ministry of External Affairs reported that 16 trucks carrying necessary equipment for the construction of a 230-foot-long single-lane modular steel bridge have already reached Nepal. Additionally, equipment for seven more Bailey bridges will be sent soon, and technical teams for their installation will also arrive in Nepal shortly.
