Fit India Sunday on Cycle: Mandaviya and Gambhir Encourage Youth to Engage in Sports Activities

New Delhi, August 30: The ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ event took place in New Delhi. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, participated in the program. During the event, Mandaviya urged the youth to stay away from screens and engage in sports activities to maintain fitness.

Speaking to the media, Mandaviya stated, “This is the 88th edition of Sunday on Cycle. It has been organized in over 25,000 locations across the country. The craze for cycling is increasing nationwide, and ‘Sunday on Cycle’ is gradually becoming a passion among people. Cycling is an excellent way to exercise. It can help control pollution, keep us fit, and alleviate traffic issues. Young people should aim to cycle for an hour each day while staying away from mobile and computer screens, and participate in sports to stay fit.”

Former Indian cricket team batsman and current head coach Gautam Gambhir also attended the ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ event.

In his remarks to the media, Gambhir said, “The Fit India campaign organized by the government is a fantastic initiative. I believe that the healthier the country is, the stronger and more self-reliant it will become.”

He added, “Fit India should be viewed not just as an event but as a campaign. Young people and all those associated with this initiative should strive to spread it across the country and raise awareness about fitness. A healthy and fit nation is a strong nation.”

The ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi also saw participation from representatives of BRICS nations, who were honored by the organizers. Besides Gautam Gambhir, renowned wrestler and actor Sangram Singh and actress Mudharima Tuli were present as guests of honor. The organizers presented flowers and bouquets to the guests. The event attracted a large number of participants from all age groups. In addition to cycling, various other sports activities were organized, with the primary goal of raising health awareness among the public.
