Varanasi, March 7: Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand has commenced his Cow Protection Journey, termed as a religious war, starting from Varanasi on March 7. This journey will traverse several districts and culminate in a significant protest in Lucknow on March 11. The primary aim is to secure the status of the cow as the state mother.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand began the journey from his ashram on Saturday morning. He emphasized that the route from the Ganga to the Gomti symbolizes more than just a path; it represents respect for religion and cows. The Ganga originates from the cow’s mouth, while the name Gomti is directly associated with cows.
He indicated that the journey would commence with a visit to the Chintamani Ganesh Temple, where he will pray for an uninterrupted journey, followed by seeking blessings for cow protection at the Sankat Mochan Temple.
During the journey, he plans to visit the ashram of Rishi Jamadagni in Jaunpur, known for protecting people and cows. He recalled how King Kartavirya oppressed cows, but Lord Parshuram intervened for their protection. The journey will proceed through Sultanpur, Raebareli, Mohanlalganj, and Lalganj, heading towards Lucknow.
The Shankaracharya clarified to the media that this journey is not a political campaign. Its purpose is to protect the cow and raise awareness about its significance in society. He stated that no organization or political party is behind this initiative; it is entirely driven by public sentiment and the need to safeguard religion. Everyone is welcome to participate according to their faith and devotion.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand highlighted the connection between the Ganga and Gomti with cows. The Ganga emerges from the cow’s mouth, and Gomti means the river associated with cows. Lucknow, situated along the Gomti River, adds to the religious and cultural significance of this journey. He noted that communities and cultures thrive where cows are respected. Thus, the journey aims to raise awareness and enhance respect for cows.
He announced that on March 11, a conch shell will sound in Lucknow for the Cow Protection Journey, asserting their message with full force. He believes this journey is an effort to unite people, educate them about the importance of cows, and encourage society to stand up for their protection.
