Suvendu Adhikari Urges Peace Among BJP Workers in Nandigram After Election Victory

Kolkata, May 6: After securing a third consecutive victory from the Nandigram assembly constituency in East Medinipur district, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari delivered a significant message to his supporters. He emphasized that maintaining peace and avoiding any form of violence or revenge should be the party’s top priority following the elections.

Adhikari appealed to his supporters, stating, “I understand the hardships and atrocities you have faced over the past 15 years. However, I urge you not to take the law into your own hands. Do not adopt the culture of TMC, and do not attempt to repeat their actions. Now that the elections are over, everyone should live together peacefully.”

He also instructed the party leadership in East Medinipur not to hold any victory rallies until the new government is sworn in. “The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on May 9. Only after that should victory processions be organized, and they must be conducted peacefully with permission from the district administration,” he added.

This time, the BJP won all 16 assembly seats in East Medinipur, a region once considered a stronghold of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Adhikari also triumphed in the Bhawanipur seat in South Kolkata, defeating the incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by over 15,000 votes.

Addressing the voters of Nandigram, Adhikari highlighted that the BJP’s success in West Bengal, as well as his personal victory, stemmed from two main factors: ‘patience’ and ‘tolerance.’ He assured that legal action would be taken against those who had perpetrated atrocities against BJP workers and the general public.

He stated, “The new government will reopen all such cases and ensure that the guilty are punished according to the law. But I reiterate, do not take the law into your own hands.”

During his address, Adhikari also made several announcements regarding the development of Nandigram. He promised to establish a new English medium school and an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) college in the area.

“You have placed your trust in me; now it is my turn to serve you. Our government will work in such a way that people choose us repeatedly based on our performance, not out of pressure or fear,” he concluded.

Adhikari expressed gratitude to the people, stating, “I came here to thank the people who have elected me twice as MP and three times as MLA.”
