Kolkata, August 11: The Special Task Force (STF) of Delhi Police apprehended a wanted suspect involved in a murder case on Monday in Nandigram, East Midnapore district. This operation was conducted with the assistance of local police.
The arrested individual has been identified as Wasim Lamboo. He has a substantial criminal record, with approximately 125 cases filed against him in Delhi, including serious charges like murder. Acting on intelligence from confidential sources, the STF reached Nandigram and coordinated with local law enforcement.
In a joint operation, the Delhi STF and Nandigram police initiated searches at multiple locations. Ultimately, Lamboo was captured in the Chaurangi market area under the Kendyamari Bhallage Panchayat.
According to Midnapore district police, Lamboo hails from Darbhanga district in Bihar but had been residing in the Jahangirpuri area of Delhi for several years, where he faced numerous criminal charges, including murder. He had been on the run for several days before the STF received a tip-off about his hiding place in Nandigram.
In addition to murder, Lamboo faces severe allegations including robbery, kidnapping, sexual assault, theft, and assault on police officers. His arrest is considered a significant achievement for Delhi Police.
Recently, a suspect linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Haman Mandal, was also arrested by the West Bengal Police STF in East Bardhaman district. Investigators stated that his primary target was Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
Hamim and Arpita Shahzad Bhatti are identified as active members of a network connected to a terrorist group from Pakistan. Through Arpita, the network attempted to target six members in West Bengal using honey traps and blackmail. Following this, STF officials arrested Aditya Singh, another associate of Hamim, who resides in Howrah district.
