Suspect Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Mobile Snatching in Noida

Noida, August 21: The police in Noida’s Phase-1 area have apprehended a suspect involved in vehicle theft and mobile phone snatching. Authorities recovered a stolen scooter, two mobile phones linked to snatching incidents, ₹1,200 in cash, and an illegal knife from the suspect’s possession.

According to police reports, the arrested individual, Aman Singh, a 22-year-old resident of Kalyanpuri, Delhi, was known for stealing vehicles in and around Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Noida. He used the stolen vehicles to commit mobile phone thefts.

On August 21, 2026, the Phase-1 police team arrested Singh near a dirty drain in Sector 14. During the search, they found a red scooter, which was later identified as stolen from the New Ashok Nagar area in Delhi.

During interrogation, Singh confessed to multiple mobile snatching incidents. He revealed that he frequently changed vehicles to carry out these thefts. One of the recovered mobile phones, a Redmi device, was snatched on August 20, 2026, near the Kondli Bridge in Delhi, while the other was taken from a red light area in Phase-1, Delhi.

Singh also admitted to stealing a Samsung mobile phone from Sector 2, Noida, which he later sold to a passerby near Ghazipur Mandi for approximately ₹4,000. The police recovered ₹1,200 of that amount from him. Investigations revealed Singh’s criminal history, with previous cases of mobile snatching and vehicle theft registered against him at the Phase-1 police station in Noida and the New Ashok Nagar police station in Delhi.

Police noted that Singh typically targeted deserted or less crowded areas to steal two-wheelers. After committing the theft, he would roam around different neighborhoods to snatch mobile phones from unsuspecting victims before quickly fleeing. To evade capture, he would frequently change vehicles. The Phase-1 police have filed a case against Singh regarding his arrest and the recovered items.

Additionally, there are prior cases related to mobile snatching against him. The police are now investigating to gather information about other members of his gang and additional theft and snatching incidents. Legal action regarding the recovered mobile phones and scooter is also underway.
