Suspect Arrested for Assaulting Female Police Officers in Patna

Patna, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Patna for allegedly harassing and assaulting female police officers during a patrol. The suspect, identified as Pradeep Kumar from the Ramkrishna Nagar area, was taken into custody following an incident that occurred on Wednesday night around 8:30 PM near the Khemnichak-Subhash Nagar intersection.

According to a police statement released late Thursday, a team of female officers was on patrol when they noticed three young men engaging in suspicious activities. The officers approached the group for questioning, at which point one of the men reportedly began to harass and physically confront the female officers. When the police attempted to detain all three individuals, they fled the scene.

Subsequently, authorities filed a case against the three unidentified suspects and initiated an investigation to identify them. Police were able to track down Pradeep Kumar using CCTV footage and local intelligence, leading to his arrest.

Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the two other suspects, who remain at large. This incident highlights a troubling trend of recent attacks on police personnel in Bihar. Authorities stated that further actions will be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation.

The case has also drawn attention to the “Police Didi” initiative, which involves deploying female officers around schools and colleges to address issues such as lewd comments, harassment, and stalking, ultimately aiming to enhance the safety of women and girls. This program was launched by the Bihar government to create a secure environment around educational institutions.
