New Delhi, April 25: The seventh joint military exercise ‘Dustlik’ between India and Uzbekistan concluded successfully on Friday at the Gurumsaray Field Training Area in Namangan, featuring a final validation exercise and a closing ceremony.
According to the Indian Ministry of Defence, this exercise strengthened cooperation between the armed forces of both nations and improved their ability to work together effectively.
The exercise enhanced preparations for joint operations, particularly missions aimed at eliminating illegal armed groups. It also provided an opportunity for both countries’ armies to share experiences and strategies for combating terrorism, as reported by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army.
‘Dustlik’ is an annual exercise held alternately in India and Uzbekistan. The previous exercise took place in April 2025 at the Foreign Training Node in Pune.
A total of 60 soldiers from the Indian Armed Forces participated, including 45 from the Indian Army (primarily from a battalion of the Mahar Regiment) and 15 personnel from the Indian Air Force.
Uzbekistan also contributed approximately 60 soldiers, comprising members of their army and air force.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the objective of this exercise is to enhance military cooperation and strengthen the capacity for joint operations, especially in mountainous regions. It focused on fitness, joint planning, tactical drills, and basic skills with special weapons.
This exercise also facilitated better coordination between the command and control systems of both armies, enabling smoother planning and execution of future joint operations.
During ‘Dustlik’, both countries shared their experiences, techniques, and operational methods, further improving their coordination, understanding, and collaborative capabilities.
The exercise fostered a friendly atmosphere and mutual trust among the soldiers, strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
The conclusion included a 48-hour final exercise that assessed the preparation and implementation of joint operations. The aim was to evaluate strategies developed to eliminate illegal armed groups.
