Ranchi, August 8: A student protester involved in the ongoing agitation against alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams was hospitalized on Friday after his health deteriorated. Rahul Kranti, a student leader from Palamu, was taken to Ranchi Sadar Hospital by ambulance after experiencing severe symptoms. Doctors have admitted him to the ICU. Rahul had been on an indefinite hunger strike at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since Tuesday night. His condition worsened suddenly on Friday, causing him to experience severe dizziness when standing.
Another student, B. Pandey, also fell ill during the protests and was taken to the hospital. Additionally, Brijkishore, a student from Koderma, became unwell while participating in the sit-in amidst continuous rain and was also brought in for treatment.
Upon learning of the deteriorating health of Rahul and Brijkishore, Health Minister Irfan Ansari visited the hospital. He instructed the medical staff to ensure the students received proper care.
Later, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi also arrived at Sadar Hospital. He met with both students and inquired about their conditions from the doctors. Marandi encouraged the fasting students, stating that they should not have to risk their lives due to the government’s stubbornness. He emphasized that they still have a long fight ahead.
Marandi accused the government of eroding students’ trust in the examination and recruitment processes in Jharkhand. He demanded that the government show sensitivity towards the issues faced by students.
He further alleged that irregularities have surfaced in several recruitment exams conducted in the state since 2019. Marandi asserted that the students’ movement is not just about a few candidates; it represents the voice of all youth in the state who are demanding fair job opportunities and examination processes.
