Peaceful Religious Activities Held at Bhojshala Amid Tight Security

Indore, August 8: In the historic Bhojshala complex of Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, both Hindu and Muslim communities conducted their religious activities peacefully on Friday. Strict security measures were in place, ensuring tranquility and harmony throughout the area.

Police officials indicated that an alternative location has been designated for future prayers, but consensus among the communities is necessary for the Muslim community to hold Friday prayers there.

The Muslim community performed their Friday prayers at the designated site, while members of the Hindu community worshipped an image of Goddess Vagdevi and recited the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’.

Under tight security, around 1,000 police personnel were deployed in and around the complex and sensitive areas nearby.

Last Friday, rain had made the original site muddy. The administration suggested a nearby alternative location for better conditions. However, after the community declined to move, arrangements were made at the original site.

The municipality leveled the path, allowing the Muslim community to pray at the location without any inconvenience.

Indore’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma stated, “An alternative site has been designated at the 40-foot Dargah or Khasra number 639, but consensus among the communities has not yet been reached. If they come to an agreement, prayers will be permitted at those locations in the coming Fridays.”

During prayer times, the Hindu community conducted their planned religious programs at the Bhojshala complex.

The district administration remained vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order. According to SP Sachin Sharma, “Approximately 1,000 police personnel were deployed in the complex and surrounding areas.”

Police set up barricades, closing Bisleri Road and strictly controlling movement around the area.

These events occurred amid ongoing legal proceedings related to the site. Four petitions from the Muslim side concerning Bhojshala were scheduled for hearing on August 5 before a Supreme Court bench led by Justices Sanjay Kumar and Sanjeev Sachdeva. However, the hearing did not take place, and a new date is awaited.

Both communities completed their religious activities as planned, with no reports of any disruptions.

Thanks to the cooperation between police and relevant departmental officials, the events at the sensitive historical complex concluded peacefully.
