Agartala, August 7: Preparations for the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026’ campaign are complete in Tripura. Officials announced on Friday that the campaign aims to enhance respect for the national flag, pay tribute to freedom fighters, and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among citizens.
Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department, stated that Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This year’s fifth edition will be celebrated from August 9 to August 17.
Gitte emphasized that the campaign encourages people to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in various events across the state. “The goal is to foster an emotional connection between citizens and the national flag, honor freedom fighters, and ignite a sense of patriotism,” he said.
This year’s events will commemorate the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram.’ Activities will include flag rallies, exhibitions, cultural programs, bike and bicycle rallies, flag lighting, decorations, rangoli competitions, ‘Tiranga Salaam,’ and ‘Selfie with Tiranga.’
A state-level ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally will be held on August 11, inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha. The rally will start from Ujjayanta Palace, traversing various roads in the capital, concluding at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, where a flag exhibition and cultural program will also take place.
In addition to state-level events, similar programs will be organized in all districts to ensure maximum participation. The campaign will involve students, youth, clubs, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to reach both rural and urban areas.
Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of the ICA Department, mentioned that the state government is making every effort to ensure the campaign’s success. This nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Culture aims to spread the message of patriotism to every village and city in the state.
