New Delhi, February 17: Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday evening to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026.

Upon their arrival at the airport, they were welcomed by Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, Minister of State for Jal Shakti. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit aims to strengthen the significant partnership between the two neighboring countries.

The Sri Lankan President’s office stated that as emerging technologies reshape economies and societies, Sri Lanka’s participation in this inaugural summit in the Global South highlights the priorities and deep ties of the India-Sri Lanka partnership. It reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that innovation remains inclusive, responsible, and people-centered.

The visit builds on Dissanayake’s historic state visit in December 2024 and the joint vision adopted on December 16, 2024, to promote “Partnership for a Shared Future.”

Sri Lanka and India have maintained momentum in connectivity, economic engagement, digital collaboration, capacity building, and people-to-people relations.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner remarked, “As one of the existing South Asian leaders, the President’s participation demonstrates our commitment to working together on issues that shape our close relationship. The India-Sri Lanka partnership is evolving with a purpose, guided by strong mutual trust and practical cooperation.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also arrived on Tuesday, welcomed by Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margerita, at New Delhi Airport.

The MEA stated, “His participation in the India AI Impact Summit will further enhance the strong and deep friendship between India and Serbia.”

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, taking place from February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, aims to advance global discussions on artificial intelligence by bringing together government policymakers, industry AI experts, scholars, technology innovators, and civil society from around the world.

The summit is based on the national vision of “Sarva Jan Hitaya, Sarva Jan Sukha” (the welfare of all, the happiness of all) and the global principle of “AI for Humanity.”

Over 110 countries and 30 international organizations are participating, including approximately 20 heads of state/top officials and around 45 ministers. This summit is the fourth in a series following AI summits held in Bletchley Park, UK in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025.
