Hyderabad, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Konda Surekha, recently dismissed from the Telangana Cabinet, has denied any connection to social media posts circulating under her name. On Friday, she clarified via X that news and posts attributed to her on various platforms are not associated with her or her family.
The former minister urged the media and the public to rely solely on information shared through her official social media accounts. This statement follows the dissemination of posts claiming “big updates soon” and “the wait is almost over” under her name.
This incident occurred just a day after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy formally requested her removal from the Cabinet during a meeting with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. The Governor subsequently issued a notification declaring that Surekha was no longer a minister effective immediately.
The Chief Minister’s recommendation came after receiving approval from the Congress High Command. Following discussions over the past few days with state leaders, including Mahesh Kumar Goud, the Pradesh Congress President, the top leadership decided on her removal.
Surekha had also met with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan. Her dismissal was prompted by a report from the party’s disciplinary committee, which recommended strict action against her and G. Chinna Reddy, who was also removed from the Telangana Planning Board.
The party leadership took her response to a show-cause notice issued after her daughter Sushmita’s comments about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seriously. Surekha argued that she should not be held accountable for her daughter’s remarks, emphasizing that Sushmita is an independent woman.
Last month, during a public event in Warangal district, Sushmita criticized the Chief Minister and made allegations of corruption against his family. She expressed her dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister’s appeal to voters to support the current MLA, Revanth Prakash Reddy, in the next election.
Sushmita, who has long sought a party ticket from Parkal, declared that she would contest the upcoming elections from the constituency, regardless of whether Prakash Reddy is fielded as the Congress candidate.
Following her Cabinet removal, Surekha condemned the decision, accusing Revanth Reddy of blackmailing the Congress High Command to facilitate her ousting. She alleged that the Chief Minister’s brothers, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and MP Vem Narender Reddy, conspired against her. However, she affirmed that she and her husband, Konda Murali, would not leave the Congress party.
When asked about potential plans to join the BJP or form a new political party, she firmly stated, “I am not going anywhere.”
