BJP Protests Alleged Police Assault on Youth Worker in Giridih

The BJP demands action against police after a youth worker claims he was assaulted while protesting at a local station in Giridih.

Giridih, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In Giridih, Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed strong opposition following an alleged assault on a youth worker, Shreyansh, at the Pachamba police station. Baboolal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, accused the police of using excessive force against BJP workers instead of addressing the complaints of criminals.

Shreyansh and his colleagues had gone to the police station to demand action against the alleged harassment of a minor girl and her family. Upon their arrival, they claim they were met with hostility from law enforcement.

According to Shreyansh, he was detained within the police station premises, where officers allegedly beat him with sticks under the direction of the station in-charge. BJP leaders contend that rather than taking action on the complaints regarding the minor, the police resorted to violence against the workers who came to support the victim’s family.

Marandi took to the social media platform X to criticize the Hemant Soren government and the police. He stated that the police, by attacking BJP workers, seem to believe they are powerful while failing to confront real criminals. He has called for strict action against the Pachamba station in-charge and urged the Giridih Superintendent of Police to ensure appropriate measures are taken in this matter.

The opposition leader accused the police of abusing their authority while in uniform. He warned that if no action is taken, the BJP would take to the streets in protest, asserting that the party would respond politically and democratically to such misconduct by law enforcement.
