Special Intensive Voter List Revision Begins in Telangana

Hyderabad, June 25: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated a special intensive revision of the voter list across Telangana. This process involves house-to-house visits to gather information.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute information-gathering forms starting Thursday and will continue for a week. They will visit homes to hand out these forms. If a household is not available, the form will be left at the door. Collection of the completed forms will begin after one week.

BLOs will provide pre-printed forms that include an original and a duplicate copy. Voters are instructed to fill out the original form and return it during the next visit by the BLO. Upon collecting the forms, BLOs will issue a receipt, while voters should keep the duplicate copy for their records.

If voters are not at home, the form will be given to an adult family member. Each BLO is assigned approximately 800 to 1,000 voters and will make multiple visits to homes. The form will contain information about each voter, including their address and photo.

Voters who do not receive a form can contact the BLO via phone using the number provided on the Chief Electoral Officer – Telangana’s official website or utilize the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ feature. Voters are encouraged to check the website and the ECI NET app for more information.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudarshan Reddy stated that voters can also submit their forms digitally through the ECI app or website. Online submissions will be sent directly to the relevant polling station or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).

Election officials clarified that no documents will be collected during this house-to-house information gathering process. This initiative will continue until July 27.

Around 36,000 BLOs have been deployed across the state for this task, with over 3,500 supervisors overseeing their work. More than 1,000 senior officials will monitor the entire process. The draft of the voter list will be released on July 31, and voters can file claims and objections from July 31 to August 30.

From July 31 to September 28, EROs will conduct various activities, including issuing notices, hearings, verifications, and resolving claims and objections. The final publication of the voter list will occur on October 1.

The state has over 33.8 million voters, with mapping completed for 23.8 million as of June 20. Government sources indicate that discrepancies were found in the data of approximately 9 million voters.
