Caracas, June 25: Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodriguez reported on Thursday that two powerful earthquakes have claimed at least 32 lives and injured over 700 people. In response, leaders from around the world expressed their solidarity with the Venezuelan people and offered assistance.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum conveyed her support for Venezuela, stating that she has instructed her government to prepare essential aid for the South American nation. She wrote on the social media platform X, “We stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs is in contact with Venezuela, and I have already directed preparations for necessary aid. For now, they have requested assistance from experts in rescue and health. Mexico will always stand in solidarity.”
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele announced that 300 rescuers and paramedics, along with 50 tons of equipment, medicines, and essential supplies, are ready to depart for Caracas. He posted on X, “We have offered assistance to the Venezuelan government through the Foreign Ministry. 300 rescuers and paramedics, along with 50 tons of equipment, medicines, and essential supplies, are prepared to head to Caracas.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his full support for the Venezuelan people, stating, “My thoughts are with the victims and their families following the earthquake.”
Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa declared his complete solidarity with Venezuela, stating that he has arranged for immediate humanitarian aid to address the emergency. “Ecuador will respond swiftly and with commitment, as humanity should always guide a leader’s actions,” he wrote.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla expressed his condolences for the loss of life and property due to the earthquakes. He wrote on X, “I express my deep condolences and solidarity with the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Cuban health collaborators on the ground are fully prepared and providing medical services to those affected.”
Uruguayan President Yamandú Orsi also showed solidarity with the Venezuelan people, expressing willingness to cooperate with whatever the Venezuelan government deems necessary.
The Chilean government expressed solidarity with Venezuela following the dangerous earthquakes, stating, “The Chilean government shows its solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people after the earthquakes that affected a large area of the country, resulting in significant damage and potential loss of life. We regret this tragic event and are ready to provide humanitarian and rescue assistance if needed.”
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed deep concern over the earthquake’s aftermath, stating, “On behalf of the government, I show heartfelt unity and compassion for the Venezuelan authorities and people. The Council presidency is in constant contact with the Foreign Ministry and Civil Protection to activate all channels for humanitarian aid and assistance.”
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deep condolences for the Venezuelan people, noting that these earthquakes are among the most powerful to strike Venezuela in over a century. “My thoughts are with every family in mourning and those still waiting for news of their loved ones trapped in the rubble,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the courage of Venezuelan rescuers as they face challenges in the coming days, stating, “We trust that the assistance from the international community will provide some relief to those who need it most.”
U.S. President Donald Trump showed support for Venezuela, stating that he has directed U.S. government agencies to be on standby. He wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, “The two major earthquakes that just struck the great people of Venezuela are significant, resulting in many deaths. The USA is ready and able to help! I have instructed all my government agencies to be prepared quickly. We will be there for our new and good friends. Initial reports are not good.”
