Amazon CEO Praises PM Modis Vision for India

New Delhi, June 25: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and expressed his admiration for the Prime Minister’s vision.

In a video message, he stated, “Over the past 12 years, Prime Minister Modi’s vision has been truly remarkable. This is evident in the country’s development and India’s growing significance in nearly every sector globally. Whenever I have the opportunity to spend time with him, I see that he has numerous new ideas to improve the country at every level. This is extremely important, extraordinary, and impactful.”

He also mentioned the plans discussed during their meeting. Jassy revealed that Amazon has invested $40 billion in India since 2010. Last year, the company announced an additional investment of $35 billion between 2026 and 2030. Today, he announced that this amount has been increased to $48 billion. This means a total new investment of $48 billion will be made in India from 2026 to 2030.

Jassy noted, “A significant portion of our investment is in the e-commerce marketplace business, but the additional $13 billion announced today will specifically focus on cloud and artificial intelligence (AI).”

The CEO acknowledged that India is rapidly becoming a crucial hub for cloud and AI services. The demand for these services is consistently rising, prompting us to increase our investments in both areas.

By 2024, our activities are expected to create approximately 2.8 million direct and indirect jobs in India. Our goal is to increase this number to around 3.8 million by the end of 2030.

Earlier, Jassy shared a photo with PM Modi right after their meeting, stating, “The meeting with Prime Minister Narendra regarding Amazon’s future plans in India was very productive. We have been serving customers, sellers, developers, startups, and industries in India for over a decade, and we are just at the beginning of our journey.”
