Burhanpur, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, a special health camp was held at the district hospital’s ANC OPD on September 9 as part of the Prime Minister‘s Safe Motherhood Campaign. During the event, 43 pregnant women underwent prenatal check-ups, with 15 identified as having high-risk pregnancies.
Health professionals provided essential consultations to the identified women and their families regarding timely treatment, regular follow-ups, safe institutional deliveries, and maternal-child health safety. They also informed the expectant mothers about physical and mental health, potential complications during pregnancy, and necessary precautions.
For those needing mental health support, information about the ‘Manhit’ app and the toll-free helpline 14416 was shared. Additionally, high-risk pregnant women from remote areas were briefed on the availability of birthing waiting area units.
The program featured gynecologists Dr. Poonam Singhal and Dr. Moina Ansari, along with nursing staff and ASHA workers. Special prenatal check-ups are conducted on the 9th and 25th of each month under this initiative.
Dr. Moina Ansari emphasized the benefits of the campaign for pregnant women from rural areas, describing it as a crucial health program. She noted that all necessary examinations are conducted, allowing for the identification of high-risk pregnancies to ensure better treatment and referral to higher health centers when needed.
At the district health committee level, continuous efforts are made to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. The health department aims to provide the best possible health facilities to pregnant women.
Seema David, the district in-charge and advisor for the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign, stated that the initiative takes place on the 9th and 25th of each month across all health centers in the district. The campaign has significantly contributed to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.
