Jaipur, March 6: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani expressed his frustration during the question hour over the absence of several legislators who had raised questions. He emphasized the importance of being present in the house to hear the responses to their inquiries.
Devnani noted that a similar incident occurred the previous day when three to four legislators were absent despite having questions listed.
This issue resurfaced on Friday when BJP legislator Jagat Singh’s question regarding the Chambal-Dholpur-Bharatpur mega drinking water project was up for discussion. The Speaker repeatedly called out Jagat Singh’s name, but the legislator was not present. Singh had inquired about when the villages in the Nadbai area, still lacking access to this project, would receive drinking water.
On Friday, Devnani reiterated that any legislator raising an issue during question hour or zero hour must be present in the assembly. He also instructed all legislators regarding this matter.
During this session, a heated debate unfolded among leaders. Opposition Deputy Leader Ramkesh Meena questioned the current status of the previous government’s announcement to establish an Ambedkar Center and a modern library. In response, Education Minister Madan Dilawar stated that there is currently no ongoing modern library project, rendering further progress impossible.
The opposition leader sharply criticized this remark and demanded the minister’s resignation, accusing him of lacking knowledge and harming the state’s education system.
In response, Dilawar remarked that the opposition leader should have read the proposal carefully, as it mentioned a digital library, not a modern library. This clarification intensified the debate in the assembly.
