SP Leader Criticizes BJPs Distortion of History and Calls for Mental Health Support for Rajbhar

Lucknow, June 29: The national spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party, Fakhrul Hasan Chand, has sharply criticized comments made by RSS propagandist Indresh Kumar regarding Mahatma Gandhi, as well as recent statements from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Chand accused the BJP and RSS of distorting history to divert public attention from real issues.

In response to Kumar’s assertion that “if Bapu had not bowed down, the country would not have been divided,” Chand expressed strong disapproval. He stated that the ideology questioning Gandhi’s contributions to India’s independence has no historical basis.

Chand highlighted that while Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was rallying youth with the call, “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom,” the same ideology was discouraging participation in the Azad Hind Fauj and promoting enlistment in the British Army. He further alleged that this ideology opposed the Quit India Movement as well. Gandhi is revered not just in India but globally as a symbol of non-violence. Thus, he argued, such comments from BJP and its affiliates are unbecoming.

Responding to recent remarks by Om Prakash Rajbhar, the president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and a cabinet minister in the Yogi government, Chand suggested that Rajbhar might need mental health treatment. He humorously proposed that Rajbhar should seek care at Noor Manzil Mental Hospital in Lucknow, offering to cover the costs.

Chand claimed that Rajbhar is unable to advocate for the interests of backward classes due to pressure from the BJP. He noted that Rajbhar’s statements seem to be dictated by the BJP, indicating a deterioration of his mental balance. The Samajwadi Party wishes for Rajbhar’s swift recovery, asserting that the public no longer takes his statements seriously.

On Chief Minister Adityanath’s comments regarding the creation of Pakistan and the Congress’s role, Chand stated that the Samajwadi Party believes the partition occurred due to actions taken by Indira Gandhi and Congress. He expressed pride in the fact that Indira Gandhi and the Indian Army were instrumental in the division of Pakistan.

Chand also addressed Adityanath’s claim that the Samajwadi Party’s bicycle symbol has compromised the safety of women in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed out that two BJP legislators lost their memberships due to convictions for rape. He criticized the BJP for including a candidate in their recent organizational expansion who had previously lost his ticket due to a viral video.

Questions have also arisen about members of the BJP’s BHU IT cell, who are under scrutiny for serious allegations against women. Chand emphasized that the BJP should address the character of its members before accusing the Samajwadi Party.

The West Bengal government is expected to present the UCC bill in the assembly on Monday. Chand remarked that the Samajwadi Party believes the BJP aims to distract from pressing issues by discussing UGC, madrasas, and Muslims. He asserted that the BJP’s agenda lacks focus on employment, poverty, farmers, and security.

Regarding Chief Minister Yogi‘s comments on minorities expelled from Bangladesh, Chand stated that the Samajwadi Party views the partition of Pakistan and the creation of Bangladesh as a matter of pride for Indians. He expressed that if Pakistan were to fragment further, it would also be a point of pride. The Samajwadi Party believes that the protection of minorities is the responsibility of the government of any country, and there should be no oppression of minorities anywhere.
