Sonia Gandhis Leadership Promotes Womens Respect, Claims Ajay Rai

Lucknow, April 15: The debate surrounding the Women’s Reservation Bill continues to intensify. In this context, Ajay Rai, the head of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, attributed the credit for the bill to his party. He asserted that the current government is not prioritizing women’s interests, while Congress has consistently championed women’s rights.

Referring to the Women’s Reservation Bill, Rai accused the BJP of spreading falsehoods, claiming that true respect for women comes from the Congress party.

In a conversation in Lucknow, he stated that the Prime Minister cannot genuinely advocate for women’s rights and respect. He emphasized that Congress has always honored women, highlighting leaders like Sonia Gandhi, the first female Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar, and the first female President, Pratibha Patil, as contributions of the party.

Rai also criticized the BJP for dismantling its coalition partners, stating that wherever the BJP has formed a government, it has destroyed its allies. He mentioned the breakup of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, the weakening of Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) in Bihar, and the support for Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, which ultimately led to his political isolation. According to Rai, the BJP leaves a trail of devastation among its allies.

Supporting Pawan Khera’s remarks about Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rai claimed that the Election Commission operates under BJP’s pressure, which is why no action has been taken against Sarma. He stated that every worker stands with Khera.

On the allegations against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak regarding conspiracy, Rai expressed sorrow over the disrespect shown to Shankaracharya, labeling it a tragic incident. He suggested that this conspiracy is brewing within the BJP itself, indicating internal conflicts in the UP government. He pointed out the ongoing tug-of-war between Chief Minister Yogi and the central government, which has escalated tensions and disputes within the BJP, particularly involving Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Maurya alongside Home Minister Amit Shah.
