Sonam Wangchuks Health Update: Eighth Bulletin Released, Condition Stable but Blood Sugar and Potassium Levels Low

New Delhi, July 21: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare released the eighth health bulletin regarding social activist Sonam Wangchuk on Monday morning at 9 AM. According to the bulletin, Wangchuk is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital. A multidisciplinary team of experts from VMMC, Safdarjung Hospital, and AIIMS, New Delhi, is involved in his care.

Doctors report that all of Wangchuk’s vital physical parameters are stable. However, his blood sugar level remains below normal. Blood samples taken on Sunday night revealed that his serum potassium level is at 3.2 millimoles per liter.

It is important to note that the normal potassium level in adults ranges from 3.5 to 5.0 milliequivalents per liter or 3.5 to 5.0 millimoles per liter.

The health bulletin also indicated that Wangchuk continues to experience persistent pancytopenia. This condition results in low levels of red blood cells, white blood cells (leukocytes), and anemia. Doctors emphasize the need for continuous monitoring of all medical and laboratory indicators.

According to hospital administration, he is currently being provided with oral rehydration solutions and potassium supplements. Despite repeated medical advice, Wangchuk continues to refuse intravenous (IV) fluids and glucose.

Doctors have stated that due to the prolonged fasting, the effects on his body, mild to moderate dehydration, and ongoing laboratory abnormalities, continuous medical supervision is crucial. The hospital has assured that all necessary medical facilities are being provided, and his health status is under constant observation. Future treatment will be determined based on his medical progress and ongoing lab reports.
