Smoke Erupts from Indigo Flight at Bengaluru Airport, Passengers Evacuated Safely

Bengaluru, May 26: Chaos erupted at Bengaluru Airport on Monday when smoke was spotted in an Indigo flight, 6E 6017, bound for Chennai before takeoff.

In a swift response to ensure safety, all passengers and crew members were evacuated using emergency slides. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Reports indicate that the Airbus was taxiing towards the runway when smoke appeared inside the cabin. Emergency protocols were immediately activated, halting the aircraft and facilitating a safe evacuation of everyone on board. Relevant authorities have been notified about the situation.

An official statement from Indigo emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is the airline’s top priority. All individuals were safely escorted to the terminal, where the airline’s team is providing care. Refreshments have also been arranged for the passengers’ convenience.

To ensure that travelers reach their destination, an alternative flight has been arranged, and it is expected to depart soon.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the incident. Preliminary information suggests that the smoke was observed while the aircraft was on the taxiway.

Notably, this marks the second emergency evacuation involving Indigo this month. Earlier, on May 5, an Indigo flight traveling from Hyderabad to Chandigarh had to evacuate all passengers via emergency slides after a passenger’s electronic device caught fire.
