New Delhi, July 22: Actress Seema Pahwa has publicly expressed her support for the ongoing student protests in the country through a video shared on social media. She voiced her solidarity with the protesting students and their families, while also questioning the silence of influential figures on this pressing issue.
In her Instagram video, Seema highlighted the alarming circumstances faced by students today. She emphasized the importance of fulfilling societal and national responsibilities rather than solely focusing on personal interests and careers.
Pahwa pointed out that many prominent individuals remain silent out of fear that speaking against the government could jeopardize their careers. She stressed that humanity should take precedence during such times, urging everyone to stand with the students.
The actress remarked that when youth are compelled to take to the streets for their future, all sections of society must listen to their voices. She warned that if people only think about their safety and comfort, it poses a significant concern for society as a whole.
Seema stated that remaining silent due to fear of work stoppage or loss of awards is not justifiable. According to her, the country needs support from individuals across all sectors, and everyone should raise their voice in favor of humanity. She said, “It is not right to remain silent just because of the fear of work halting or not receiving awards. The country needs support from every field. Every person is needed, but we are all caught up in the race to save our own positions. We must think about how to preserve true dignity and humanity.”
She also emphasized the need for society to be sensitive towards the students currently fighting on the streets. Seema noted that without public support, no system can maintain the trust of the people for long.
Pahwa praised fellow actress Shabana Azmi for her willingness to speak out in support of students. She mentioned that she admires Azmi and would have joined the students herself if she were not preoccupied with personal circumstances.
In her Instagram post caption, Seema Pahwa stated, “I stand with these children, with their families, and with this country.”
