New Delhi, 11 December. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reported significant progress in the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Data reveals that nine states and union territories have achieved 100 percent distribution of enumeration forms (EF), while eight have completed full digitisation of these forms.

This update was shared in the commission’s daily bulletin released on Thursday.

The ongoing revision process began on 4 November, with counting scheduled to conclude on 11 December in Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.

According to the Election Commission, counting in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will continue until 14 December. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will carry on until 18 December, while Uttar Pradesh’s counting period has been extended until 26 December.

The bulletin states that a total of 509.7 million enumeration forms have already been distributed, covering 99.9 percent of voters in 12 reporting states and union territories. Digitisation has also progressed rapidly, with 508.8 million forms digitised, accounting for 99.78 percent.

Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal are among the top-performing regions with 100 percent distribution.

Similarly, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, and Puducherry have recorded 100 percent digitisation.

In West Bengal, which has over 76.6 million voters, digitisation stands at 99.96 percent.

In Rajasthan, where revision began late due to a by-election in the Anta assembly constituency, distribution and digitisation have reached 99.6 percent and 99.64 percent respectively.

Uttar Pradesh has achieved 99.9 percent distribution, and Kerala 98.92 percent, with the last date for form submission in Kerala set for 18 December.

The Election Commission noted that the digitised enumeration forms include voters who are absent, have shifted, are deceased, or have duplicate entries.

The commission has also urged recognised political parties to appoint additional booth-level agents to strengthen field verification.
