New Delhi, April 14: The Budh Pradosh Vrat, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, will be observed on April 15, Wednesday. This day holds special significance for the worship of Lord Shiva. As it falls on a Wednesday, it is referred to as Budh Pradosh.

On this day, the 13th day of the waning phase of the month of Vaishakh will be celebrated. The Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra will prevail until 3:22 PM, after which the Uttar Bhadrapada Nakshatra will begin. Wednesday is ruled by the planet Mercury, making this Pradosh Vrat particularly beneficial for success in intellect, speech, and business. Observing Budh Pradosh enhances mental acuity, improves communication skills, and fosters proficiency in dealings. This fast is primarily performed to please Lord Shiva.

On Wednesday, sunrise will occur at 5:56 AM, and sunset will be at 6:47 PM. The 13th Tithi will last until 10:31 PM on April 15. The Pradosh period will be from 6:47 PM to 9:00 PM, lasting approximately 2 hours and 13 minutes. This time is considered extremely auspicious for Shiva worship.

According to the Drik Panchang, Brahma Muhurat will be from 4:27 AM to 5:11 AM, and Amrit Kaal will be from 7:37 AM to 9:10 AM. However, there is no Abhijit Muhurat. The Vijay Muhurat will be from 2:30 PM to 3:21 PM, and the Godhuli Muhurat will be from 6:46 PM to 7:08 PM.

Regarding inauspicious timings, Rahukal will occur from 12:21 PM to 1:58 PM, during which auspicious activities are discouraged. Yamgand will be from 7:32 AM to 9:09 AM. Bhadra will last from 10:31 PM until the next day at 5:55 AM, while the Panchak will be effective throughout the day.

Devotees observing the Budh Pradosh Vrat should wake up early, take a bath, and resolve to fast. In the evening during the Pradosh period, they should perform an abhishekam on the Shiva Lingam with milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and Ganga water. Offerings of bel leaves, akanda flowers, and white sandalwood should be made. Observing this fast brings mental peace, enhances intelligence, and removes obstacles in life.
